Needly Autofill

Privacy policy

Effective August 28, 2026

Reuse your application details without creating an account or sending a profile to Needly Labs.

Information stored locally

Needly Autofill stores the profile information you choose to save in chrome.storage.local, which belongs to the extension in your local Chrome browser profile. This may include your name, contact details, address, professional links, skills, employment history, education, cover-letter text, and your CV.

You can review eligible answers from a job application and deliberately save selected question-and-answer pairs. A saved answer is considered only for the same question after harmless differences in case, spacing, and trailing required markers are removed. Eligible non-sensitive text, textarea, and simple select responses may be offered. Sensitive, demographic, legal, salary, work-authorization, consent, radio-button, checkbox, and other consequential choice questions remain manual. Nothing is added until you select an answer and choose Save selected.

A small amount of product activity is also stored locally: the number of successful fill actions, whether you tried the bundled local demo, and whether you dismissed or opened the optional review invitation. This is used only for the free 25-fill allowance, local setup state, and review-prompt timing. It is never sent to Needly Labs or anyone else.

How local information is used

Saved information is used only to preview and fill recognizable fields, reuse an exact reviewed answer, or attach your saved CV. Needly Autofill preserves existing values by default, leaves unrecognized and consequential questions manual, and never submits an application. You review the result before deciding whether to submit it.

Filling writes selected details into the employer's application page. Attaching a CV may cause the employer's application provider to upload that file immediately. Those are visible actions on the page; they do not send a copy to Needly Labs.

Before filling, a local readiness preview can examine recognizable field labels, whether fields or CV uploads already contain data, which saved profile values are available, which saved answers match, and whether the CV can be attached. The preview does not change the application, retain application values, or contact Needly Labs.

Page access

For Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, and Ashby, Needly Autofill uses narrow, declared host patterns for the application pages it supports. Automatic filling, if you enable it, is limited to these known systems.

In the current 0.9.1 release, on another ordinary http or https page, opening the popup lets Chrome's activeTab and scripting permissions provide temporary access to the current tab. An on-device classifier requires clear job-application context and at least two distinct recognized profile fields. Needly Autofill then works only in the recognized application area and fills only after you choose Fill application. These other pages never fill automatically.

Login, payment, non-job, browser-restricted, and low-confidence pages are rejected. On a rejected page, the popup can instead offer a local copy fallback for full name, email, phone, location, LinkedIn, and portfolio. A value is written to your clipboard only when you choose its Copy button. The extension does not read the clipboard or automatically paste.

This does not grant persistent access to every website. Temporary current-tab access does not become broad background access.

CV storage, suggestions, and attachment

When you choose a CV, Needly Autofill can transiently read text from a PDF, DOCX, TXT, or RTF file on your device to suggest missing name, email, phone, LinkedIn, GitHub, and portfolio values. Legacy DOC files can be saved and attached but are not read for suggestions. Every value is shown for review, never replaces a non-empty profile value, and can be deselected. Extracted CV text is discarded after the suggestions are prepared and is not stored separately.

The selected CV and reviewed suggestions are not stored until you choose Save data or Save changes. The saved file is attached only to a recognizable, empty CV or resume upload when attachment is enabled. Needly Autofill does not replace an existing attachment or attach another local file.

What Needly Labs does not receive

Needly Labs does not collect, transmit, sell, share, or analyze your saved profile, reviewed answers, CV, or local product activity through the extension. Needly Autofill has no account, profile backend, analytics, tracking, advertising, or remote executable code. Browser or device synchronization is not enabled by the extension.

Your data remains in the Chrome profile where you saved it unless you export it, copy a value, fill it into an application page, attach the CV, or independently choose to share an exported file.

Free-fill allowance and optional licensing

The first 25 successful fill actions are counted only in local Chrome storage. The bundled demo does not count. After that allowance, another fill requires an active Annual Pro license. Review, Undo, profile editing, export, import, and deletion remain available without Pro.

New Pro purchases are currently unavailable. The website does not load Paddle checkout or send payment data while this route is closed.

Activating or checking Pro is a visible action. Chrome first asks for optional access to https://api.keygen.sh/*. Keygen receives the license credential plus product-scoped installation metadata: a randomly generated fingerprint, a derived machine label, the related license and environment, and the provider machine identifier used for later deactivation. The local license record stores the key, provider resource identifiers, fingerprint, validation time, expiry, and status. It does not contain customer payment data or application content.

Optional support report

After filling, you may explicitly export a local support report. It contains the extension version, application provider, page origin and path, visible field labels, and match decisions. It does not contain saved profile values, entered answers, or CV contents. The report downloads to your device and is not sent automatically. You decide whether to inspect, delete, or share it.

Export, import, and deletion

You can export your profile and CV to a JSON file, import saved data, remove or replace the CV, or delete all locally stored extension data from settings. Uninstalling the extension also causes Chrome to remove its local extension storage.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

In plain language, Limited Use means information available through Chrome permissions is used only to provide the visible job-application features described here. Needly Autofill does not use that information for advertising or unrelated purposes, and it does not transfer it to Needly Labs.
