Initial setup

  1. Install DueIn and approve only its listed Shopify permissions.
  2. Confirm the store has a Shopify-supported preorder payment gateway, tracked variants, the Online Store channel, and a compatible Online Store 2.0 theme. Gateway availability varies by region and Shopify eligibility.
  3. Add and confirm an inbound shipment with exact variant quantities and an expected date.
  4. Explicitly enable the intended variant on the Preorders page.
  5. For an opted-in variant that can reach zero on-hand inventory, enable Shopify's “Continue selling when out of stock” setting. If ordinary one-time purchases should not bypass the preorder option, choose Shopify's purchase-option-only display setting for that product.
  6. Add the DueIn preorder block to the product template.
  7. Add the DueIn preorder-status block to Customer Accounts.
  8. Place and cancel test orders before using DueIn with live orders.

DueIn tracks unallocated incoming quantity and allocates managed lines after Shopify accepts an order. It does not change Shopify inventory or impose a checkout quantity cap. Shopify's own preorder restrictions also apply, including restrictions on customized and accelerated checkouts.

Safe recovery

Use Operations to review failed webhooks and allocation exceptions. Fetch the current Shopify order by GID only after reviewing it in Shopify. DueIn preserves existing allocations when a change lacks incoming capacity.

Cancellation boundary

A customer request does not cancel an order. Authorized store staff must confirm that the entire order will be irreversibly cancelled, refunded to original payment methods, restocked, and notified by Shopify.

Privacy requests

Authorized staff can download a customer data-request export from Operations for 30 days. Shopify's authenticated redaction workflows remove matching operational records. See the DueIn privacy policy.
