Workflow
- Install from Shopify and review the two requested permissions.
- Choose Scan catalog for a free, read-only audit. No paid-plan approval or app charge is required, and scanning sends nothing to the AI provider.
- Select missing images and choose Generate selected. Up to 25 successfully generated AI drafts are free, with no paid-plan approval or app charge.
- Edit each phrase and save selected edits.
- Select reviewed suggestions and choose Apply selected.
- Verify the result in Shopify.
Free and Essential
Free includes the catalog scan and up to 25 successfully generated AI drafts, with review, editing, safe apply, history, guarded undo, export, and deletion. After the free drafts are used, Essential continues AI generation for $8.99 USD per month following a seven-day free trial. Shopify manages billing and cancellation.
Safe recovery
A failed suggestion remains on its row and can be retried. If an image gained alt text after the scan, the app preserves the newer Shopify value. The app never overwrites existing alt text, changes image files, or edits other product fields. Guarded undo restores the prior value only while Shopify still contains the exact text AltSentry applied; a later merchant edit is preserved instead.
Data controls
Use Export JSON to download stored app records. Type DELETE in the app’s data controls to remove them without changing Shopify product or image data. To prevent the free allowance or provider-cost limits from being reset, deletion retains aggregate successful-free-use and free-provider-attempt counters. Uninstall removes shop-scoped catalog data and sessions while retaining the verified installation’s quota contribution, so a rapid reinstall does not reset used allowance. Shopify-mandated redaction removes identifying retention for that prior installation; an identity-free monthly aggregate provider-attempt counter remains.
Permissions
read_products scans product media and rechecks current alt text.write_files updates only the selected file ID’s reviewed alt field. No customer, order, theme, inventory, checkout, or payment scopes are requested.
